Carleton Place Nursery Peony Collection 2007
The old fashioned peony rates a place of honour in any perennial garden. Peonies provide a bold anchor in the border. Many provide wonderful fragrance. They are also favourite cutflowers for the table.
Peonies thrive in a full sun location, but can take a light shade. They are a very long lived perennial and produce large flowers in a wide range of colours. By choosing from peonies that are early season, mid season and late season bloomers you can enjoy a very long season of flower in the garden. As well peonies are considered to be either single, semi double, double Japanese and Anemone flower types, thus offering great variety of form.
To add further interest to this perennial family there is also the Tree Peony which is a woody shrub form of peony.
