Carleton Place Nursery Oriental Poppy Collection 2006
There is little to rival the drama of the bloom of Oriental Poppies in the late Spring garden. Colours of scarlet red, white and pink, often with black or near black centres, are all available. The garden drama starts with the unfurling of the huge flower buds, from which emerge the translucent paper thin flower petals.
Choosing companion plants is most important in the case of Oriental Poppies. One must choose plants that will fill in and mask the void left when the Oriental Poppy does its rapid die-back after flowering. Gypsophila, Delphiniums or Phlox would all make ideal companions for the Oriental Poppy.
Following is a descriptive list of the Oriental Poppies we are carrying this year.
